These are the 12 fastest breeds of fast dogs – lightning-fast Olympian puppies

Dog ownership climbed nearly 8% last year according to the Kennel Club, as the lockdown meant people felt more able to open their homes to a new puppy.
It now appears that the popularity of puppies is waning, as prices continue to rise as demand exceeds supply.
There is a huge selection of 221 dog breeds to choose from, so it’s best to do your homework before choosing your perfect four-legged friend.
But if you want a puppy that will do two rounds of the park before several of its canine friends do, there are a few dogs you should have at the top of your list.
Here are 10 of the fastest breeds, according to the American Kennel Club.
It is probably not surprising that the fastest breed of all is the Greyhound. They were born to run, although they are surprisingly lazy the rest of the time, and have an incredible top speed of 45 mph.

One of the oldest dog breeds, the Saluki is believed to date back to ancient Egypt. With a top speed of 42 mph, they are the second fastest dog breed.

In the joint bronze medal position for the fastest dog is the Afghan Hound. At top speed, they’re a furry blur, running at 40 mph.

The other dog that can record up to 40 mph on the canine speedometer is the Vizla. If this Hungarian breed does not get a lot of exercise, it can become destructive.
