These are the 10 smallest dog breeds in the world – tiny pocket-sized doggies

Many of us have welcomed new four-legged family members during the lockdown over the past 18 months as the Kennel Club has seen the number of dog owners increase by almost 8% to almost 250 000 compared to 2020.
If you are looking for a new furry addition to your home, choosing the right breed is absolutely essential – for example, going for a calm dog if you live in an apartment or a hypoallergenic dog if you have allergies.
But if you have limited space and time for long walks, you might want to consider a smaller dog – which tends to make loyal, loving companions but is less demanding than their larger cousins.
So if you are looking for a dog and want to keep it small, these are the 10 smallest puppies.
Ranging in size from 0.9 to 2.7 kg, the Chihuahua is the smallest breed of dog in the world. The smallest dog in history was a chihuahua named Miracle Milly – she was 3.8 inches tall and weighed less than 0.5kg.
