Over the past two years, many of us have added a new furry friend to our families, with the Kennel Club reporting that dog ownership has increased nearly 8% since the pandemic began.
Potential owners looking for a new puppy have 221 different purebred dog breeds to choose from, plus plenty of crossbreeds, so there’s a lot of thought to go into choosing your new best friend.
Meanwhile, some will want a dog that has a calming influence on their home and family – avoiding more hyper breeds like Border Collies and Springer Spaniels.

The Boerboel dog breed is loyal, intelligent and calm in nature, especially with children. However, they are not suitable for first-time dog owners, as they can be difficult to train.
