The best parks for taking kids and dogs in Greater Manchester
Most families love to go to the park and as night falls it’s great to get out there and enjoy the daylight while you can.
But if you have kids and a dog, it’s not always easy to find a place that works for both.
While kids usually want a decent play area with swings and climbing frames, your dog usually just wants a little space to run around – and maybe some water to splash around on.
We asked parents in Manchester where their favorite places to take dogs and children are – and were inundated with suggestions.

While Heaton Park seemed to be the favorite, places were mentioned all over Greater Manchester, from Clifton Country Park to Salford and Chadderton Park to Oldham, to Woodbank Park in Stockport and the popular Haigh Woodland Park in Wigan.
Some readers even made suggestions a bit further, with recommendations for Astley Park and Worden Park in Chorley – the latter described as “amazing” with “one of the best playgrounds ever” – Lymm Dam at Warrington and Styal Woods and The Carrs Park in Wilmslow.
