Reports: ‘Havana syndrome’ could be causing symptoms of US officials
The suspicious incidents are said to have occurred in 2019 and 2020.
WASHINGTON, DC, USA – A government study in 2020 found that “directed and pulsed radio frequency energy” was likely the source of the mysterious illness that has sickened U.S. officials overseas.
Now the media are reporting cases of the same disease, which has come to be known as “Havana Syndrome”, may also have been the source of the mysterious symptoms of two White House officials.
CNN Reports, citing a source with direct knowledge of the incident, that a National Security Council official was walking through an unstaffed door after the 2020 election when they were hit.
The national outlet reports that the individual suffered from headaches and insomnia for a week before the symptoms disappeared.
A second incident was reported by GQ Magazine, based on information from three unnamed sources. A White House staff member was “hit” while walking his dog in Virginia after passing a parked van, according to the outlet.
Apparently a man got out of this van and walked past her and the dog when she felt “a high-pitched ringing in her ears, a severe headache and tingling on the side of her face.”
Symptoms are similar to those published in the government report, including loud sounds, dizziness, head pressure, fatigue, headaches, and memory loss.
But it’s important to note that the experts who wrote the initial report didn’t rule out that other causes and factors could have contributed to the symptoms that at least 40 federal employees experienced overseas.
U.S. officials suspected Russia of what some believed to be attacks on diplomats and other workers, but there is no conclusive information to back it up. Russia has also denied any involvement in the diseases.
Reuters reports that the White House is aware of the possibility of potential radio frequency incidents on U.S. soil, but has not confirmed or provided additional details.
“The health and well-being of America’s utilities is a top priority for the Biden administration,” spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre told Reuters and other reporters aboard Air Force One. “We cannot provide or confirm specific details.”
The international media adds that the White House is working closely with other agencies to assess the situation.
Earlier this year, Senator Marco Rubio, R-Florida, who is deputy chairman of the Intelligence Committee issued a statement with President Mark Warner, D-Virginia, on “Mysterious Direct Energy Attacks”.
“For almost five years, we have heard of reports of mysterious attacks on United States Government personnel in Havana, Cuba and around the world. This tendency to attack our fellow citizens in the service of our government seems to be increasing, “the duo wrote in a statement.” The Senate Intelligence Committee intends to get to the bottom of this. We have already held investigative hearings into these debilitating attacks, many of which result in medically confirmed cases of head trauma, and we will do more. “
Although the cause remains speculative, according to the State Department, the Intelligence Committee says it will identify those responsible and hold them accountable.
