Ohio Humane Society rescues 17 dogs from ‘deplorable’ conditions

A northern Ohio humane society on Thursday rescued 17 dogs from what they call “absolutely deplorable and uninhabitable living conditions.” The Humane Society of Richland County closed its shelter Thursday so staff members could focus their energy on rescuing the 17 full-sized dogs. The humane society has removed the dogs from a home but said there will be challenges ahead. Several of the dogs have skin issues, tumors and medical needs that staff members will analyze and address over the next few days. .The shelter staff said all of the rescued dogs were very nice. The Humane Society of Richland County closed its shelter Thursday so staff members could focus their energy on rescuing the 17 full-sized dogs.
The humane society removed the dogs from a home, but said there would be challenges ahead. Several of the dogs have skin issues, tumors and medical needs that staff members will analyze and address in the coming days.
The shelter learned of the dogs’ existence after a concerned person alerted them to what the person called a “hell on earth” situation.
Shelter staff members said all of the rescued dogs were very nice.

The Humane Society of Richland County is now scrambling to find places to put the dogs. They called the Richland County Dog Warden, but she said they had no room.
“Our shelter is not big enough to house that many, especially since we already have animals currently in our care,” the humane society wrote on Facebook.
