Man throws £30,000 worth of cocaine into neighbour’s garden during police raid

A 38-year-old man who was found in possession of cocaine has been sentenced to three years in prison. Gurvir Singh, from Oadby, tried to cover up evidence by throwing a box containing the drugs out the window when officers descended on his home.
Leicestershire Police executed a warrant at Singh’s home in Bluebell Close after receiving a tip in March this year. The box was later discovered in a neighbour’s garden, containing three bags of white powder and a number of wrappers – with a street value of £30,000.
A brass knuckles, £20,000 in cash, a Rolex watch and designer clothes were also discovered on the property. Singh pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.

He was sentenced to three years and six months in prison for possession of a Class A drug, 12 months for possession of a Class B drug and four months for possession of an offensive weapon – all to run concurrently.
A Leicestershire Police spokesman said officers executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act after they “received information about his criminality”.
PC Alex Newbery, the investigator, said: “Singh is not someone we knew to be a prolific drug offender, however – the information we received about his criminality led us to execute the When we arrived at the property, he tried to get rid of the drugs and throughout our interviews with him in custody, he refused to comment and provide information about his dealings.
“Despite his lack of cooperation, the evidence we recovered led us to charge him with the offenses to which he today pleaded guilty. Drugs are a blight on society and can cause families and friendships to break apart. We will act on any information we receive about drug abuse and encourage the public to report any suspicions via 101 or via www.leics.police.uk.
