Man issues warning after Royston Park pepper spray attack
A man issued a warning to other dog owners after a stranger sprayed him and his dogs with pepper spray in a random attack in Sutton.
Mr Rudman said he was walking his two dogs along an alley near Royston Park when he was approached around 8:50 a.m. on July 12.
“I saw this woman spread out on the grass with a spray can in her hand,” he told Sutton Guardian.
“Immediately I realized who it was because I had heard of his attacks.
“My dogs went to her dogs and I warned her not to spray it on my dogs, but she ignored me and sprayed them!
“I pushed her away, that’s when she sprayed me with pepper spray.”
Mr Rudman went on to say his dogs ran away in a “panic” after the woman “verbally assaulted” him.
“The police intervened and then went looking for him,” he said.
“My eyes and face were burning and the policeman said if I washed them with water it would be worse,” he said.
“I had to remove it so much waste water because I didn’t know what else to use and it made it worse ten times and couldn’t see for about 30 minutes.
“She also wasn’t worried about having her own dog with pepper spray, so I’m a little worried about how she treats the poor thing.”
Mr Rudman recently shared the incident on social media, which saw a number of dog owners speak out saying they had also been attacked.
“It needs to be sorted out because she attacked so many people,” he added.
The police met were contacted for comment.
