JACKSONVILLE, Florida – A Jacksonville neighborhood is on the alert following a series of dog attacks that neighbors say have left two pets dead and a third with serious injuries.
The attacks took place in an area off Baymeadows Road, just west of Old Kings Road.
A Saturday night home security video shows two dogs walking through a backyard door as the owner’s family cat sat in a chair and then grabbed the 14-year-old cat named Max. The cat died in seconds in his garden.
âHe didn’t stand a chance,â said Rett Wicker, owner of Max.
That same night, according to neighbors, the same two dogs killed a 2-year-old cat named Demeko.
âHe was dragged into the yard of the neighbor who found him, and he saw the two dogs on his Ring video,â said Pacita Bristow, one of Demeko’s owners.
Several days before these nocturnal attacks, a cat named Spike was attacked in broad daylight in his yard. He survived with a badly broken leg after his owner shot the dogs.

“These dogs show no mercy,” said Greg McPherson, owner of Spike.
McPherson said he spent thousands of dollars on emergency care to save Spike’s leg and that he and his neighbors were fed up with the attacks.
âI just want it to stop. People don’t have to feel like that, âMcPherson said.
Payton-Lilly Bristow, one of the owners of Demeko, added: âI want justice done for our animals. I want justice for our neighborhood. We are supposed to be safe.
Neighborhood pet owners said they fear the dogs will one day attack a child.
“What if it had been one of my children?” I have a 4 year old child. I have a one year old and have another on the way, âWicker said. “What if it was mom here, unable to defend herself against those two dogs?” “
While it is not clear who the dogs belong to and where they came from, it appears that one of the dogs is wearing a collar.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Animal Control are currently investigating the attacks.
