Former Waco Humane Society Director Condemns Dismissal | Local News
Lupfer said of the 14 board members only three are men and he sits on the board with highly educated professional women.
Waco car dealership Greg May, one of Humane Society’s major donors, said Rivadeneira’s dismissal was disheartening.
He said he and his wife, Suzanna, had worked with Rivadeneira to partner with the shelter on adoption initiatives, and fundraising efforts were progressing despite a difficult pandemic year.
“When you go there like we did, let’s really support charity to really make a difference and see what happens when you really go all out,” May said. “And I really thought we were making a difference.”
Suzanna May said she is in talks with Rivadeneira to plan a 5k run and other fundraisers for the Humane Society in the coming months.
The Mays continue to encourage people to adopt from The Humane Society, but they are withholding donations.
“No, not while that board is in place, with that controlling nature,” said Greg May. “I don’t know why or why they’re doing what they’re doing, but I know two directors in a row are now gone because of fundraising. Of course, yes everyone should keep going because dogs shouldn’t be in pain because of people. “
