Elk River couple convicted of murdering 8-year-old girl
ELK RIVER – An Elk River couple who pleaded guilty to murdering an 8-year-old girl have been sentenced to 40 years in prison each.
Thirty one years Brett Hallow previously, he had pleaded guilty to endangering children, threats of violence, assault by strangulation and second degree murder.
Twenty-nine years old Kay sanctify previously, he had pleaded guilty to endangering children, threats of violence, assault and 2nd degree murder.
In a statement released by the Sherburne County District Attorney’s Office, the two defendants agreed to aggravating factors in the case that led to the agreed 40-year prison sentence.
Elk River Police Chief Ron Nierenhausen said the girl died on August 13, 2020 in a Depot apartment at Elk River Station.
Police were called to the residence on a medical emergency report. The girl, identified as Fall Sanctuary, was not breathing when the officers arrived. Efforts to revive Hallow failed and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott later said an autopsy determined the girl’s death to be homicide.
