Dog ‘riddled with cancer’ abandoned by owner in random house

A tragic ‘cancer-ridden’ dog has sadly passed away after being found abandoned by his owner.
The pooch was found by Jodie Jamieson, 34, in the front garden of her home in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.
Jodie first contacted the RSPCA and later confirmed in a Facebook post that the dog had been put to sleep.
As the poor dog was not microchipped, the owner who abandoned him has not been found so far.
Jodie also contacted Doggy Dens UK Rescue, operated by Denise Hardwick, which is helping with similar cases in the UK and Macedonia, NottinghamshireLive reports.
Denise condemned the dog’s death as an ‘act of cruelty’, saying: ‘Unfortunately yes I know how it ended, the vets had to put her to sleep. Apparently she was riddled with cancer and so they put her to sleep. Nice of the owner to dump her.

“Actually we don’t know anything about her, she didn’t have a microchip so there is no record of ownership. The only thing I suggested was to ask around if anyone had CCTV in the street, maybe we could see who was linked to him.
“It’s an act of cruelty ultimately. Unfortunately, it’s something we see more often than people probably realize.
“There was a similar case last year where I picked up a dog in Wakefield who had been abandoned. She was almost blind when I picked her up but we managed to raise £4,000 and take her away at Wakefield Hospital.
“The vet nurse finally adopted her and she’s living with her and regaining full sight. People are people, they’ll never change, will they.”
Jodie originally started a gofundme page which was set up to help care for the dog before the vets put him to sleep.
On her Facebook page, Jodie wrote: “The RSPCA just saw me and confirmed the dog had been put to sleep she was absolutely riddled with cancer.
“I’m drained, poor baby. I hope she’s at peace now.”
