Dan Patrick vows to crush Democrats in 2022
Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick made it official, he is running for re-election in 2022. The announcement is not surprising as Patrick has already been approved for re-election by former President Donald Trump and has stated on several occasions during the legislative session he would run for re-election.
Patrick was first elected lieutenant governor in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. In an announcement Thursday, Patrick told his supporters that even though Democrats are talking about turning Texas blue, it won’t happen. Patrick said the Democrats would be crushed again.
“I’m running for re-election in 2022. Democrats are bragging again that they’re going to turn blue from Texas and I’m not going to let that happen. We will crush them again in 2022. We must push back and stop the destructive policies of the Biden administration – open borders, anti-life, anti-Second Amendment and spending trillions of dollars that will raise your taxes. I look forward to working with you in the coming months on Keep Texas Red.
For the moment, Patrick has no opponent in the Republican primary. He has a Democratic opponent. Mike Collier, who ran against Patrick in 2018, is back to challenge Patrick in the general election. Collier came to five percentage points from defeating Patrick.
According to Dallas Morning News, Mike Collier responded to Patrick’s news saying that Patrick doesn’t care about Texans’ lives.
“Dan Patrick has proven that he doesn’t care about the everyday needs of Texans and refuses to lead the issues that matter most to Texans. “
