Christmas For Rescued Dogs – Manila Standard
It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas at the Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF). Our rescued animals, cats and dogs, have received a number of visitors lately, regardless of existing travel restrictions.
The holiday bug has caught up with everyone, especially those who love animals and we at AKF couldn’t be happier when they show up on our doorstep.
They stay with us a night or two to enjoy the ambience of a relaxing getaway at our refuge in Capas, Tarlac. You wouldn’t know you are in a rescue center full of dogs, as you would experience stillness and tranquility in a refreshing campfire at Camp Wartenberg, a site inside the refuge, all by being wedged inside your tent or simply sitting on the terrace of our Bed, Bark and Breakfast accommodations.
Who would have thought that a center filled with rescued dogs, once destined for slaughter and other hapless people, would provide a refreshing and relaxing time for animal lovers? It is simply magical when, at night, you openly gaze at the night sky and enjoy the vibrations of your natural surroundings with an increased awareness that you are sharing the moment with the most faithful, loving, affectionate and creatures around. pure spirit that man has never known: dogs. The positive energy that emanates from it will truly amaze you. It is simply magical and satisfying.
We invite you to experience this wonderful moment with your family and friends. Your paid accommodation will greatly help our rescued animals. Check us out on: https://web.facebook.com/AKFBBnB on Facebook.
There are also virtual events that you can join with your furry friends. Register to join the sixth edition of AKF RunFurLife.
The event will also choose a winner for the best photo and will receive gifts and gift certificates from our sponsors and an overnight stay for two at AKF Guesthouse. What a treat, right ?!

Feed the stray
As we find ways to enjoy the freedom to travel now after nearly two years of being stuck in our homes, limited that may be, let us also not forget the pitiful creatures who are left out in the cold as the temperature drops. . low in recent weeks. Baguio City and the rest of the Cordilleras have experienced 14C and one cannot imagine the discomfort that stray dogs feel up there.
If you see any stray animals, provide them with a steady supply of food as this will keep them active and warm. Please do not allow anyone to harm them or drive them away. We need to do more for our furry friends. Shelters have had difficulty accommodating rescues and we can all help each other by making sure stray animals are fed.
Also make sure that the litters of kittens or puppies that you discover are not completely abandoned by their mothers. Mom might just be foraging. We shouldn’t take the litters out and bring them home; they have much higher survival where they are. Please provide mom with a food source.
If you are a new pet owner, please have them sterilized. We strongly encourage anyone who wants to adopt a new pet and not buy any pets. Adopting from shelters or saving and caring for an unhappy creature creates a huge, positive impact for everyone, not to mention the animal you rescue or adopt. Shelters need adopters in order to continue saving unhappy animals. So please adopt don’t shop. Follow this link for our online adoption application: bit.ly/AKFdogRehoming

It’s a different Christmas, at least in the way we all celebrate it, but the holiday spirit is felt more than ever; we feel victorious, we feel more inspired and alive than ever. So please let us also make our furry friends, especially the homeless and the unhappy, feel loved. Letâs do our part to protect them and provide for their needs. They still need us. They will always be our furry friends forever.
Merry Christmas, dear friends, and God bless us all!
