Available for adoption at the Smithtown Animal Shelter
** Senior Alert and Double Adoption ** Samson is an 8 year old Boxer Pit Mix, and his girlfriend Delilah is a 10 year old Pit Mix. These two loves were found abandoned in a park after the death of their former owner. Samson and Delilah adore each other and would love to find a home together, but they can be separated if need be. These two porridges love people and are very friendly and sweet. Delilah suffers from chronic dry eye and skin allergies and will need a home that can handle this properly. She has a dominant personality, and does not accept other dogs, except Samson with whom she gets along well. Samson and Delilah deserve a wonderful home with which to share their love forever.
** Senior Alert ** Angel is an approximately 8 year old Blue Nosed Pit female who has lived in the Smithtown Town Animal Shelter for over three years. She is an extremely goofy and intelligent girl who enjoys spending time with people. She loves to play outside, chew on her bones and soft toys, and of course, eat! Angel needs an owner who has experience with large dog breeds, and someone who can give him some structure and discipline while understanding his needs. She has a very dominant personality and would do best in a house without children or other dogs and cats. After all this time spent in the animal shelter, Angel deserves nothing more than a home that will love him endlessly.
If you would like to meet Samson and Delilah or Angel, please call 631-360-7575.

Broccoli (Adoption # H208247) is good for you! When 4-year-old Broccoli lost his home, the NSALA gave him a fresh start. This dedicated best friend wants to make a lasting impression. You’ll find him on the bunny’s stomach and paws outside, waiting to receive a good, long scratch on the chin from you. Give him your knees and cancel your plans for the day! Broccoli is used to being the solo pet in his house, so he seeks the kind of peace and quiet that comes from being the only furry friend. A quiet home with children over six will give him the welcome he needs to settle in and succeed. He will be infinitely grateful and devoted to anyone who chooses to make it part of their daily lives!
When Ward, 4, (Adoption # H209908) arrived at North Shore Animal League America, he was in deep mourning for the loss of his home and family. Staff placed him in the quietest place available, with the most loving hands, experienced in helping fearful cats acclimatize to the new setting. Time and patience were gifts Ward had never received in his old home. Beginning to trust those who take care of him, Ward enjoys life from the comfort of a predictable space, with feline friends modeling what to expect if he’s brave enough to show a little curiosity. The NSALA wants Ward to feel confident with his new family and look for adults with experience in parenting shy cat spirits (please, no children under the age of 16. ) Because he has responded so well to his feline roommates, NSALA knows that a home cat will help him navigate all the joys of family life. Would you like to be Ward’s hero? You are just one visit away from making him part of your heart.
** Senior Alert and Double Adoption ** Tutelo (Adoption # BF2528) and Cayuga (Adoption # BF2529) comfort each other. After a rough start in a perilous situation, these 10-year-olds are ready to begin a new chapter in a quiet home with loving and experienced humans dedicated to making every moment of their lives comfortable. Give them the peace of a home (please, only children 12 and over) and these nice gentlemen need very little; in return, you receive gratitude for providing them with what they have always deserved. You can start your journey with Tutelo and Cayuga by offering treats and ear creams; they will take hold of your heart as soon as you assure them that they are safe.
The NSALA had no idea what kind of delicacies awaited us when a local lifeguard brought Mary Shelley (Adoption # H211407) to safety. This dazzling, watered-down tortoiseshell kitten is filled with curiosity and full of courage to keep you interested! For something so small and young, Mary knows how to convey how she feels about sharing her life with other cats – no thanks! This 6 month old girl is so enchanting that you won’t mind having her all to yourself. Mary will fill all the empty spaces in your heart. If you have a house with kids eight and up and have experience with tortured girls, you’re in for a treat!
If Toast (Adoption # R166606) is feeling a bit tired from the trip, it’s because he’s come a very long way to find safety in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center from Hawaii! The NSALA is going to help Toast feel better about our New York climate by providing plenty of reassuring attention and space by a sunny window. A quiet home will go a long way in fixing his mind, and in no time at all he will be loving living on the east coast.
If you would like to meet or adopt any of these adorable adoptables, please email [email protected] for more information or come visit their Port Washington campus.
As always, thank you for reading and remember to always adopt, never buy… pass it on!
