A Perham pup is the face of Busch’s new ‘Dog Brew’

PERHAM, MN (Valley News Live) — Busch hosted a “Bark Bracket” to help find the face of the can for its new line of Busch Dog Brew, their non-alcoholic beverage for pets.

They found their star in Perham, Minnesota.

“They said she was ‘paw-fect’,” says Dan and Ali Kenyon, owners of Kira.

The couple found the bark rack while browsing Facebook and decided to enter their pup Kira.

The competition lasted eight days and had hundreds of entries.

“When you think of a national competition and your dog wins it, but Kira did all the work,” says Dan.

But Kira’s smile stood out to people voting in the comments section on Facebook.

“It was really crazy,” says Dan.

“That was really cool too,” Ali says.

“We’re really happy and letting her soak in as much as she can because, you know, she’s a dog,” Dan says.

The new found celebrity will be on 40,000 cans of Busch dog beer.

“She doesn’t have to go back to her day job, which is roofing. I’m sorry, she doesn’t really have a day job,” Dan said.

Kira’s victory means more to her owners, and potentially other dogs, than she realizes.

“It brought a lot of attention to rescues. Two of the top four, so Brew was in the top two. Brew is also a rescue dog. Thus, everything drew attention to animal rescue throughout the process. We are very happy about that,” says Dan.

Kira was abandoned as a puppy before finding her fur at the Kenyons.

“She was found in a ditch by a local police department. They brought her into human society. She didn’t stay there very long,” says Ali.

Even with her superstar status, she won’t be changing her ways anytime soon.

“Sleeping all day, playing when we get home, and waiting for the snow to melt so she can come out again. She doesn’t like snow very much,” Dan says.

The new brew is expected to hit store shelves in the fall.
