Rover is the largest network of dog sitters and walkers in the country, and it offers employees three days of paid bereavement leave when their pet dies. Additionally, it has an open pet policy, with over 50 dogs in the office daily and paid time off for canine responsibilities.
“There is a growing feeling in American society that dogs are actually part of our nuclear families – they are not just pets. She said the Seattle-based company is giving five working days of bereavement leave to its 112 employees. Given the flexible nature of their workload, employees may also take time off during the workday for vet appointments, she said.
