A boy was rendered unable to walk after a Staffordshire Bull Terrier bit his leg, leaving him with horrific injuries that “looked like being bitten by a shark”.
John Henry Dundas, 10, was left screaming in pain after the dog first took a bite, then ‘locked’ his jaws around his leg on October 6 and refused to let go.
The schoolboy, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, was at his friend’s house when the grisly attack took place.
His mother Natasha Dundas, 32, told the Daily Star that John Henry suffered deep lacerations from the bite.
She said: “It looked like he had been bitten by a shark.

“When I heard he had been bitten, I thought it would be a little pinch or something, but I was never prepared for it.
“It has all been horrible for him and he is still in so much pain. He can’t walk so he has to use a wheelchair or a zimmer frame. They can’t tell us when he’ll be back on his own.”
John Henry was rendered unable to walk after the dog decided to let go.
Natasha claims the dog’s owners did not call an ambulance for the injured boy and instead left him on their doorstep while they went to pick up Natasha, which took 40 minutes.
When she got to her son, she told him to get up and get in his car, ignoring the horrific injuries he had suffered. When she saw how badly injured he was, she took him straight to the hospital.

John Henry then had to be transferred from the Royal Infirmary in Doncaster to Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
He has had a number of skin graft operations, but will face many more in the future as he grows older.
John Henry is at home recovering but unable to move without help and is taking morphine for pain relief.
It’s unclear when the youngster will be back to normal, but John Henry is disgusted to miss his rugby season.
His family are aware that he is facing several months of recovery, if only to start walking again.

South Yorkshire Police were called about the dog and initially took the dog away, but have since returned it.
Natasha learned after the incident that the same dog had been involved in attacks on others in the area and has now started a petition calling for the dog’s destruction.
It comes after a 10-year-old in Caerphilly, Wales was mutilated to death. The two incidents are unrelated
She told the Doncaster Free Press: “The police are just brushing him under the rug, but I’m not going to let him down.
“The poor boy who died in Wales – it could have been my son. They are the same age and they both were attacked by vicious dogs.
“The dog that attacked John Henry is still on the streets and he’s still having nightmares and crying. This dog has bitten people before and I’m sure it’s going to happen again.”
